New UK organization to focus on excellence in the built environment

April 11, 2005—A new organization has been formed to drive forward change in the UK built environment industry.

Known as ‘Constructing Excellence in the Built Environment,’ it unifies the country’s two leading campaigners for change in the industry, Constructing Excellence and Be.

Backed by MPs, it aims to be an influential new voice at government level, helping to shape and drive policies that are positive for the industry. It will also support education at client level and drive innovation through demand. The built environment industry, embracing construction, housing, property, infrastructure and facilities management, is a vibrant part of the economy as a whole, contributing almost 20 percent to UK GDP, notes the organization.
