March 30, 2005—Lumileds Lighting and Future Electronics have announced the formation of Lumileds Future Electronics, a joint effort dedicated to delivering the LED technology and solutions to lighting markets, including automotive, display, camera phone, portable lighting and general lighting. Triggered by the growing adoption of Lumileds’ Luxeon LEDs, Lumileds Future Electronics enables lighting system manufacturers and designers to easily and quickly engineer, prototype and manufacture solid-state lighting solutions, the company says.
Services available through Lumileds Future Electronics and affiliated system integrators and component suppliers include Luxeon assembly, board integration, illumination systems, standard and custom optics, heat management solutions, optimized power solutions, and technical, design and manufacturing support.
The initiative expands Future Electronics’ four-year-old role as the exclusive distributor of Lumileds LEDs to create a single point of customer contact for sales, marketing and technical solutions. The effort involves a new Future Electronics division with dedicated Lumileds call centers around the world, factory-trained technical experts focusing solely on Lumileds solutions support, engineering resource centers offering technical design assistance, and referrals to Certified Solutions Partners. The division also provides worldwide Lumileds inventory, custom binning programs and 24-hour customer support.
