February 14, 2011—The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has published several resources in recent weeks covering such workplace safety and health issues as: beryllium exposure, an eChartbook reference on occupational morbidity and mortality in the United States, emergency responders, noise research, and an announcement for a Prevention through Design conference.
The recent publications include:
- Preventing Sensitization and Disease from Beryllium Exposure (Pub. No. 2011-107, February 2011);
- Worker Health eChartbook, a Web-based descriptive epidemiologic reference on occupational morbidity and mortality in the U.S. including more than 8,000 figures and tables describing the magnitude, distribution and trends of the nation’s occupational injuries, illnesses, and fatalities;
- NIOSH: Emergency Responder Health Monitoring and Surveillance; notice of draft publication available for public comment;
- NIOSH Update: NIOSH and NHCA Highlight Noise Research in Special Supplement 02-03-11, a dedicated supplemental issue of the International Journal of Audiology, developed by NIOSH and the National Hearing Conservation Association (NHCA), featuring studies focused on expanding the traditional boundaries of hearing loss prevention and sharing knowledge on an international level;
- Collaborating Centre Connection–January 2011, a newsletter for the network of Collaborating Centres in Occupational Health; and
- Prevention through Design Conference: A New Way of Doing Business–A Report on the National Initiative, announcing the PtD conference taking place August 22-24, 2011 in Washington, DC.
