NIOSH publications cover school safety, first responders, hazardous drugs

September 17, 2010—The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) recently published the NIOSH Safety Checklist Program for Schools and Other Safety Databases CD-ROM, as well as several other resources in recent weeks covering school safety and health issues, the safety of first responders, and state-based occupational safety and health surveillance, some of which are in Spanish.

The NIOSH Safety Checklist Program for Schools and Other Safety Databases (Pub No. 2010-108c, December 2009) CD-ROM includes: recommendations on establishing a school safety program; regulations; safety checklists such as indoor air quality, toxic chemicals, general classroom conditions, and emergency procedures; and occupational safety and health materials such as construction information, sample programs for OSHA compliance, safety focus for young workers, and asbestos and biohazard information.
