December 20, 2006—The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has released Fatal Occupational Injury Cost Fact Sheets for the following industries: Public Administration; Services; Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate; Retail Trade; Wholesale Trade; Transportation, Communications, Electric, Gas, and Sanitary Services; Manufacturing; Construction; Mining; and Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishing.
The fact sheets include the number, rate and costs of fatal occupational injuries in the US in the particular industry by selected characteristics, from 19922002. The characteristics include: the sex of the decedent, race, age, occupation group, and event or exposure. The Fatal Occupational Injury Cost Model is also included for each industry.
