Noesis wins DOE contract for photoluminescent egress path markings

November 7, 2005—The US Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded a contract for $440,000 to Noesis, Inc. for the supply and installation of photoluminescent low-level egress path marking systems in one of the agency’s major office complexes in the Washington D.C. area.

Noesis, together with its commercial division AfterGlow Technologies, works with customers to develop comprehensive photoluminescent safety solutions (PSS) for buildings in the federal government and commercial sectors.

Noesis and AfterGlow provide high-performance photoluminescent (glow-in-the-dark) material that can save lives in emergency situations. The state-of-the-art materials offered by Noesis in its winning bid will provide DOE personnel with fail-safe emergency signage enabling them to locate building exits even under extremely adverse conditions such as the total loss of electrical power or severely reduced visibility due to heavy smoke.

Since its inception, Noesis has installed PSS in a number of federal locations, such as the Pentagon, the Washington D.C. Navy Yard, and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, and supplies PSS materials to the U.S. Department of the Navy. While their sister company AfterGlow Technologies has been active with property owners and building management firms through its New York City offices, fulfilling recently-enacted building code requirements for photoluminescent systems in high-rise commercial buildings in the city.
