October 25, 2002—Novitas, Inc.’s new automatic wall switches use advanced passive infrared technology to detect occupancy. Novitas’s SuperSwitch 2 automatically turns lights off when a room is vacated and adjusts itself to make sure lights stay on when someone is in the room. SuperSwitch 2 is engineered to maintain optimum performance by adjusting sensitivity and time delay automatically and immediately in response to occupant behavior, eliminating the need to “learn” behavior patterns over time.
SuperSwitch 2 gives the occupant control over the lights. Users can turn off lights even when a room is occupied by simply pressing the low-profile touchplate. It also automatically resets its time delay to a more convenient 10 minutes if the installer leaves the switch at the test setting of 15 seconds.
SuperSwitch 2 is also available in a dual-level version that makes possible the control of two separate loads with one switch. Novitas claims that SuperSwitch 2 can cut lighting energy usage by as much as 30% during peak hours and can save more than 90% of lighting energy used after 6 pm. The dual-level model allows selection of a reduced level of lighting that can increase saving during daylight hours to 60%. Novitas further explains both models offer a return on investment of more than 55% per annum.
Super Switch 2 was displayed at the October IFMA World Workplace conference in Toronto. For more information contact Novitas Inc.
