Off-the-shelf DoorDam provides flood protection for small businesses

September 7, 2007—Presray Corporation, an industry leader in industrial and commercial flood protection, has introduced DoorDam, a flood barrier designed for homes and smalls businesses.

DoorDam is an adjustable, off-the-shelf flood barrier that provides a cost-efficient replacement for sandbags and plywood, says the company. It is easy to install and can be used in storm after storm.

DoorDam provides protection of inventory and other assets, so owners can get back up and running faster and generate revenues while others are still cleaning up. Small businesses are particularly at risk, since they account for only 5% of the insured structures within floodplains, says the company.

Made of rugged steel beams, encased in a durable watertight neoprene jacket protected by a debris guard, DoorDam expands to fit standard size door openings with the turn of a handle, sealing out floodwaters up to 24 inches high for the standard model and 34 inches with DoorDam XL. Both installation and removal is complete in minutes.

The standard DoorDam weighs about the same as one typical 45 lb. sandbag, however the Army Corps of Engineers recommends approximately 60 sandbags to protect an equal size opening, says the company.
