March 11, 2005—Tyler Elm, Director of Environmental Affairs at Office Depot, has been recognized with the 2004 ForestLeadership Communication Award, one of three new awards established by ForestLeadership to honor individuals and organizations in North America committed to furthering sustainable forestry.
Elm was recognized during the recent ForestLeadership Conference in Toronto. ForestLeadership is a nonprofit Canadian initiative focused on developing environmental leadership and improving sustainable forestry policies and practices.
It was not the first environmental award won by Office Depot. The company was also honored with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Corporate Stewardship Award for Large Companies in 2004, which recognizes businesses and chambers that have demonstrated ethical leadership and corporate stewardship. The company, one of the worlds largest resellers of office products, also demonstrated environmental leadership in 2005 when it issued its Green Book Catalog of Environmentally Preferable Products.
