OSHA adds site for building material industry safety

June 15, 2005—The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has added a new page to its Web site that focuses on the lumber and building material dealer industry. According to OSHA, various safety and health concerns exist throughout the industry, ranging from ergonomic issues to machine guarding. The page is a result of OSHA’s alliance with the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA).

The page lists the relevant OSHA standards, explains the hazards and solutions associated with industry activities, shows how to develop a safety and health program and where to find example programs, and provides links to other information, including OSHA eTools for Ergonomics, Lockout/Tagout Interactive Training Program, Machine Guarding, and Noise and Hearing Conservation.

For more information, see the Web site.
