September 15, 2003—The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has published a safety and health information bulletin on Workplace Precautions Against West Nile Virus to provide relevant information regarding this illness to employers, employees, and other interested parties. The bulletin contains introductory information on West Vile virus; which occupations are at risk; what healthcare/laboratory employees can do to protect themselves; and how employers can protect employees through employee training, personal protection, and reduction/elimination of mosquito breeding grounds. The bulletin also contains links to information on the safe use of insect repellents.
