March 25, 2005—A new publication is available on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Web site and through its publication office can help small business owners meet occupational safety and health requirements and establish successful safety and health programs.
The Small Business Handbook (.pdf file) includes topics such as “A Four-Point Workplace Program” and “Starting a Safety and Health Management System,” plus self-inspection checklists on a varied group of issues within general industry, and a wealth of resources to aid the small business employer.
The materials in the handbook are based on federal OSHA standards and generally accepted principles and activities within the job safety and health field. They are designed for easy adopted by individual establishments.
