OSHA recognizes three worksites for excellence in safety and health

March 3, 2006—The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recently recognized several facilities for excellence in worker safety and health, including the following recipients of its Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) recognition:

OSHA recognized the ExxonMobil Port Allen, TX, Lube Oil Bottling Plant and its primary resident contractor, Jacobs JE Merit Constructors, Inc., as exemplary VPP “Star” sites.

Dupont Fluoroproducts Corpus Christi Plant, Ingleside, TX, received Star certification for its safety and health management system.

The US Postal Service facility in Huron, SD, was commended as a Star site for its outstanding commitment to workplace safety and health, particularly its comprehensive employee training programs, safety captain system, housekeeping, and emergency practice drills.

OSHA recognized BlueLinx Corporation in Sioux Falls, SD, as a Star site for exemplary achievement in its workplace safety and health program. The employees at this building products warehousing and distribution facility were praised for working together “to locate and obtain equipment that essentially eliminates fall hazards from their daily operations.”

CYRO Industries’ Sanford manufacturing plant was recertified for an additional five years in the Star program. The plant, which manufactures acrylic sheeting, was praised for its high quality safety and health management programs.
