November 24, 2014—In the area of compliance with safety regulations, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued a reminder to employers that its revised injury reporting requirements go into effect January 1, 2015.
Under the updated ruling, employers are required to notify OSHA of all work-related fatalities within eight hours, and work-related inpatient hospitalizations, amputations, or losses of an eye within 24 hours. Previously, employers were required to report all workplace fatalities and when three or more workers were hospitalized in the same incident.
OSHA issued a YouTube video to assist employers with understanding the new requirements.
