July 8, 2005—Otis has been awarded contracts valued at more than $22 million to install 277 elevators, escalators and Trav-O-Lator moving walkways in six new shopping malls located in Austria and several Eastern European countries, the company has announced.
The contracts with ECE of Hamburg, Germany, the premier developer of downtown shopping malls in Europe, call for Otis to complete the installations in Austria, Poland, Hungary and Czech Republic by 2008.
In addition to the installation contracts, ECE has signed a 10-year maintenance agreement with Otis, covering all units in all locations, Otis says.
ECE has developed, planned, constructed, leased and managed shopping centers since 1965. The 7,600 businesses located in the 80 centers operated by ECE have achieved annual sales of Euro 9 billion.
