October 23, 2002—Owens Corning has introduced its new ProPINK FastBatt insulation, a flexible, fiberglass insulation batt with a flangeless kraft facing. The product is designed for installation in wood-framed cavities of exterior wall assemblies. It provides a “friction fit” application, which requires no stapling to hold the batt into the cavity; in addition, trimming, and fabrication can be done with an ordinary utility knife. Customers who tested ProPINK FastBatt insulation reported a 15-20% productivity improvement in installation versus traditional batt insulation.
The company claims that, due to its inorganic nature, the insulation resists rotting and mildew and is non-corrosive to steel, copper, and aluminum. In addition, the flangeless kraft facing provides a vapor retarder membrane required by most building codes.
Owens Corning also says that the insulation has dimensional stability, and will not slump within the wall cavity. The product is compressed with Owens Corning’s SpaceSaver packaging, which reduces freight and speeds job site handling/installation. The insulation fits tightly in the wall cavity through a wider facing, and is easy to cut, making it easier to fit around electrical boxes.
In addition, Owens Corning says that ProPINK FastBatt insulation offers aesthetic benefits that make it more desirable to consumers. For more information visit Owens Corning or call 800/GETPINK.
