Pacific Gas and Electric Co. campaign informs customers about winter storm safety

December 17, 2001—Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) has launched a comprehensive customer education campaign to give customers the knowledge they need to be safe during winter storm-related outages.

The Winter Watch campaign will incorporate a wide range of strategies and tools for dealing with storm-related outages, including: conveying urgent as well as preparation-focused messages through the news media; regularly scheduled paid advertising along with radio ads designed to air as storms are approaching; direct mail to customers through materials included with their bills; a new storm season Web page; brochures and fact sheets available to customers and distributed to community groups and organizations; and also outreach to the utility’s 18,000 employees to empower them to deliver the message to their friends and families.
