March 16, 2009—The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US Department of Energy (DOE) have named Pella Corporation as a 2009 Energy Star Sustained Excellence Award winner for its continued leadership in protecting the environment through energy efficiency. Pella’s accomplishments will be recognized at a March 31 awards ceremony in Washington, DC.
An Energy Star partner since 1999, Pella will be honored for its long-term commitment to providing highly energy-efficient products, and the company’s comprehensive integration of Energy Star information in media relations, consumer education programs, advertising, Pella Web sites, and training.
Pella has earned the Energy Star Partner of the Year award for the past three consecutive years. Through lighting retrofits and more energy-efficient systems, the company says it has reduced electrical usage to the equivalent of 4,036 tons of CO2 emissions.
Pella products can also play a key role in conserving energy for its customers. Pella windows are reportedly up to 74 percent more energy efficient and can help consumers save nearly 1/3 on heating and cooling bills. Pella’s Designer Series window is rated No. 1 for energy efficiency among top national brands.
The 2009 Sustained Excellence Awards are given only to organizations that have been named Energy Star Partner of the Year for three or more consecutive years. These winners have helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions by setting and achieving aggressive goals, employing innovative approaches, and showing others what can be achieved through energy efficiency. Award winners are selected from more than 12,000 organizations participating in the voluntary EPA/DOE Energy Star program.
