August 25, 2003—Pepco Energy Services recently signed the largest single retail sale of wind power in the mid-Atlantic region. The company, under a twenty-one-month contract, will supply more than 22 megawatts of electricity—11 megawatts of which will consist of NewWind Energy purchased from Pennsylvania-based Community Energy. The renewable energy will supply nearly 180 New Jersey accounts, including State of New Jersey Departments, Rutgers University, New Jersey Highway Authority, and New Jersey Transit.
