Peregrine’s new AssetCenter designed to combine all voice/data infrastructures

Peregrine Systems, Inc., has introduced an integrated technology for asset management that the company says will greatly improve an organization’s ability to manage all of its voice and data infrastructure assets, even those located outside firewalls.

The AssetCenter solution is powered by modules that combine the management of physical cable plants with networks. It also unifies all voice infrastructure assets with data networks. In addition, a new release of the AssetCenter product encompasses the management of even outside third-party assets.

Peregrine feels that the integration of these capabilities in its Asset Management suite signals a shift in how corporate assets will be managed in the future, with the eventual convergence of IT, facilities, and telephone operations. These organizational functions, says Peregrine, have historically been isolated in separate department “silos,” even as corporate infrastructures become more complex, costly, and mobile.

AssetCenter Cable & Circuit 3.1 promotes the ability to collectively manage the installation, maintenance, configuration, and costs of physical cable plants in concert with voice and data circuits leased from service providers. In the past, says Peregrine, these issues have not been managed as end-to-end connectivity to the devices they support, but rather independently by Facility Operations of IT Operations groups. This solution offers a way to support full life-cycle management of both cable and circuits from a common Asset Management platform.
