February 12, 2010—A documentary about custodians, called Philosopher Kings, has been winning awards at film festivals. The feature-length film, from independent movie maker Transcendental Media, tells the stories of several custodians who work at prestigious American colleges and universities.
One of the custodians featured in the film is Josue Lajeunesse, who works at Princeton University by day and is a taxi driver at night. He works nearly 20 hours a day to support his family and finance a future water project in his native Haiti.
Another is Jim Evener who works at Cornell University and was seriously injured during the Vietnam War.
