February 28, 20—PowerCold Corporation and its wholly owned subsidiary, Ultimate Comfort Systems, Inc. (UCS), will be installing new heating, ventilating and air condition (HVAC) projects valued over $700,000.
UCS has recently been awarded the mechanical design contract on the new addition to the Saint Petersburg, FL Museum of History, and the redesign of the existing mechanical system. The new design will include UCS’s DesertMaster fresh air latent air conditioner to control museum humidity while delivering clean fresh air. The system will include DuPont Caltrel plastic coils that resist the corrosive salt air. The museum stands directly on Tampa Bay at the entrance to St. Petersburg’s famous downtown pier.
UCS is also working with the State of Florida to relocate a desiccant solar system from a museum in Tallahassee to the St. Petersburg Science Museum. This system will control humidity in the museum and reduce energy cost. The museum is also planning to install new HVAC air handling equipment upon final engineering design approval.
UCS has received approval from the State of Florida for the design and installation of its systems and technology for nursing homes and hospitals in Florida. The first nursing home project will be a completely renovated structure in St. Petersburg, Florida. This design will include the UCS DesertMaster latent desiccant units as well as PowerCold Products central chiller system and air distribution systems.
Applied Building Technology (ABT), a division of UCS, has previously designed and installed a latent air conditioning dehumidification system in the B&B Grocery Store in Quarryville, PA.
This system, which controls store moisture and temperature, has been in operation for one year. The chiller system is fueled by propane gas and requires no electricity from the power company. It starts by battery and charges itself. The system includes a 45-ton gas engine chiller that uses hydraulic fluid to drive 4 Carrier Corp. air handlers and the chillers’ air-cooled condenser motors. UCS has applied for a patent on this system.
In addition to these new UCS commercial building projects, PowerCold announced two hotel contracts last quarter for a $900,000 Hilton Garden Inn Hotel and a $250,000 Wingate Inn Hotel.
