PowerSquid is designed to prevent oversized plugs from blocking outlets

May 12, 2006—Conventional power and surge protection strips used to connect and protect home and office equipment have an inherent design limitation: their side-by-side outlets don’t leave room for the bulky adapters of today’s electronics, so a five-outlet strip frequently cannot fit more than three or four devices.

Now Power Sentry comes to the rescue with the PowerSquid series, a family of surge protectors and power multipliers with flexible “tentacles” of varying lengths that ensure full use of every outlet, says the company.

Each Power Sentry PowerSquid product, named for its five tentacles, has one 10″, two 8″ and two 6″ power cords attached to a palm-sized control box. The staggered lengths as well as the flex in each cord allow plugs and transformers of any size to be connected without interfering with each other, eliminating the outlet-overlap problem encountered when using a traditional power strip, notes the company. In addition, this design permits device cords to be connected from greater distances and bent in different directions, adapting to almost any equipment setup. Each cord is grounded and adapter-ready.
