PowerTech Networks launches distributed power management company

7/13/2001—PowerTech Networks has launched a distributed power management company to deliver integrated supply-side and demand-side power management solutions to the energy industry.

PowerTech Networks was formed to empower residential and business customers to take control of their energy use and energy bills. The company Networks develops and operates an end-to-end infrastructure that integrates power management solutions such as load control, distributed generation management, and online energy information with community-focused, value-added services for delivery to the utilities residential and small business customers.

PowerTech Networks technology enables a Windows-based personal computer, communicating over the Internet to the companys network operations center, to provide advanced energy information and management applications to electric utilities and their customers. PowerTech Networks applications platform allows the utility to directly communicate with their customers, sending real-time pricing signals, providing usage profiling and updated energy information. Additionally, the company enables utility direct control and customer initiated control and monitoring of energy loads and on-site distributed generation including fuel cells and micro turbines.

PowerTech will initially target the 3,200 municipal utilities and rural electric cooperatives throughout North America.
