Prime Retail streamlines collaboration, internal communication with FM:Systems

September 26, 2008—FM:Systems, a leading provider of integrated workplace management systems (IWMS) and computer-aided facility management systems (CAFM), has announced that Prime Retail, the parent company of Prime Outlets and one of the largest and most successful owners of retail centers in the US, is using FM:Systems’ flagship product, FM:Interact, to aid in managing the company’s extensive retail property portfolio. The product helps Prime Retail manage space, tenants, projects and leasing, and the Web-based software makes it easier to deploy and share information with project teams nationwide.

Prime Retail was faced with the challenge of managing more than 8 million square feet and over 4,000 individually leased tenant spaces, and it needed a solution that would allow employees from around the nation to update and access critical property and lease information, drawings and documents.

The configurability of FM:Interact has allowed Prime Retail to:

  • Provide real time data with secure access: All Prime Retail employees and affiliates now have access to up-to-date lease plans and the company wide database information on demand using FM:Interact
  • Access documents company wide: All construction documents, LOD’s and Tenant record drawings are attached to the database and made available on demand using FM:Interact
  • Manage data more efficiently: Employees from a wide range of departments can now enter and maintain information directly into the system improving data quality and accuracy
  • Increase leasing productivity: Management now has access to advanced dynamic reporting on the status of any lease out for negotiation including economics as well as the ability to track construction and tenant build outs start to finish
  • Reduce costs: The system uses CAD floor plans to calculate accurate, detailed square footage for Prime Retail leading to significant financial savings in insurance costs as well as establishing accurate billable GLA (gross leasable area) throughout the portfolio
  • Streamline operations: Leasing and project management documents are now shared through an automated process allowing Prime Retail to improve communication between their leasing, finance, tenant coordination and construction departments
