June 19, 2002—The Progress Company, a business unit of Progress Software Corporation and a leading supplier of technology for building business applications, recently announced that Dart Warehouse, a leading fulfillment center in the Chicago area, has implemented the Progress-based IRMS warehouse management solution from Progress application partner Integrated Warehouse Solutions (IWS), achieving 99.9 percent inventory accuracy and saving at least $1 million in reduced operating expenses.
Dart’s original in-house Informix application required fifteen developers, was costly to maintain, and could not ensure accuracy. Prior to using IRMS, Dart was forced to write a 5 percent shrink rate into their contracts to account for these inventory inaccuracies. After looking at several different options, they selected the IRMS solution for its low operating costs and high efficiency.
The IRMS system is so accurate that Dart’s customers no longer do their own reporting, relying instead on the information provided by the IRMS system.
