Quiet Solution survey shows soundproof drywalls gaining popularity

October 29, 2007—Quiet Solution, the market and technology leader in soundproofing solutions, has released the results of a nationwide survey focused on acoustic issues in construction and awareness of specific products.

The survey found rapid growth in awareness of and preference for the category of soundproof drywall, introduced about five years ago, according to Quiet Solution.

Quiet Solution, a division of Serious Materials, pioneered the soundproof drywall category in 2002, and it has held a leadership position every year since, with over 90% of product sales, according to the company, which has 22 filed patents and makes over 25 Quiet-brand products.

The survey, conducted in July 2007, received 378 completed questionnaires. Respondents were drawn from a pool of over 100,000 industry professionals, including architects, contractors, developers and builders.

Of those, 68% were familiar with soundproof drywall as a means of soundproofing. This is the same number that it has taken 40 years for resilient channels (RC) to achieve.

In addition, 61% have used soundproof drywall, compared to 32% for mass-loaded vinyl and 66% for sound clips.
