October 15, 2007—The adoption of low-emission (“green”) building technology has given some architects and developers an edge in an increasingly competitive property market, and seen their work receive international attention, according to a report published by Cambridge-based analysts CarbonFree.
According to the report, green building techniques will be an important tool for developers and architects if governments intervene to support the construction sector. CarbonFree has identified key areas where governments are attempting to reduce building-related energy use and believes that future support, via public building programs, will be conditional on the construction industry including low- or zero-emission technology in building designs and development projects.
The report catalogs energy-saving building technologies ranging from new materials to low-power appliances, and examines a green building market that it says is shifting towards the retrofitting of low-emission solutions into existing buildings.
