January 23, 2006—Roppe Corporation USA has added a solid vinyl tile to its SafeTcork line. Made using post-industrial waste cork, the new tile can contribute toward LEED certification because the material is considered a renewable resource, according to the company.
SafeTcork Vinyl Tile, a smooth finish tile available in six of Roppe’s popular colors with a coordinating white marbled design, is a formulation of solid vinyl cork. It is self-coving and self-waxing for easy maintenance and, says Roppe, it has a life-cycle cost comparable to rubber.
The new vinyl tile also features built-in antimicrobial agents that inhibit the growth of mold and mildew, meeting ASTM G-21 standards. In addition, it can be heat-welded for seamless application, preventing moisture from penetrating to the sub-floor.
