December 2, 2005—The Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) announced its annual Construction Industry Safety Excellence (CISE) Awards in November and called upon the industry to continue its progress in promoting construction site safety across the US and Canada.
The annual awards highlight the achievement of companies that have created world-class construction site safety programs and are dedicated to promoting zero-injury construction. The awards also recognize the important role of owners in managing safety performance and achieving excellent results.
The CURT CISE Owner Safety Awards were presented to:
- Owner Company Operating Entity-company division: DuPont Engineering Facilities Construction & Support;
- Specific US Construction Project Over 12 Months: Merck & Co., Inc., Merck Research Laboratories-Boston and ExxonMobil Chemical Company, BOP Cyclics Recovery Project.
CURT CISE Constructor Safety Awards went to contractors in various Standard Industry Codes (SIC) recognizing their outstanding safety performances over the past three years. Award recipients were:
- SIC 15 (Building Construction: General Contractors and Operative Builders)—Washington Group International; DuPont Louisville Works of Louisville, KY; and Caddell Construction Co., Inc., of Montgomery, AL.
- SIC 16 (Heavy Construction Other Than Building Construction)—Nova Group, Inc., of Napa, CA; Cherne Contracting Corporation of Eden Prairie, MN; and Turner Industries Group, LLC, Construction and Maintenance of Baton Rouge, LA.
- SIC 17 (Construction Special Trades)—Murphy Industrial Coatings, Inc., of Signal Hill, CA; hth companies, inc., of Union, MO; and Protherm Services Group, LLC of Houston, TX.
