SAFTI introduces clear fire- and safety-rated ceramic glazing

February 4, 2005—SAFTI, a manufacturer of fire rated glass and framing, introduces its new SuperLite-C product line, which features four new ceramic glazings fire rated from 20 minutes to 3 hours. Tested with Intertek/Warnock Hersey, Superlite-C products pass the hose stream test and are available in large sizes up to 44″ x 79″.

These 3/16″ clear ceramic glazings fit in any fire rated framing system, including standard fire rated steel, wood and aluminum frames. Safety film-applied versions, SuperLite-C/S and SuperLite-C/SP, meet the highest federal impact safety standard, CPSC 16CFR1201 Cat. II (400 fpi) and are suitable for use in door, sidelite, transom and borrowed lite applications where human impact is a concern.

Like all ceramic glazing materials, SuperLite-C products are not barriers to radiant heat. They do not meet test standards ASTM E119 or UL 263. Therefore, they are not recommended for use in applications rated over 45-minutes, other than door vision panels. For applications rated over 45-minutes, heat-barrier glazings, such as SuperLite I-XL or SuperLite II-XL, are recommended.
