August 18, 2006—VFA, Inc., has been selected by Sandia National Laboratories to provide its Capital Planning and Management Solution (CPMS) to support its multi-year capital planning and federal reporting. Sandia is a multi-program US Department of Energy laboratory and the fourth national lab to choose VFA solutions for facilities capital planning, VFA says. VFA is a leading provider of end-to-end solutions for facilities capital planning and asset management.
Under the terms of the contract, VFA will provide comprehensive condition assessments of more than 400 Sandia facilities spanning approximately 1.8 million square feet at its Albuquerque, NM, and Livermore, CA, campuses. Sandia will employ VFA.facility capital asset planning and management software for ongoing management of facility data and for development of capital projects and plans. VFA will train Sandia personnel in its use. The VFA solution will enable Sandia to export facility information in a format compatible with the DOE’s real property asset management directives for reporting.
“Historically, Sandia has relied on multiple spreadsheets and databases to maintain information about its facilities and to generate the reports needed to meet DOE requirements,” explains Lynnwood Dukes, facilities engineering and program manager at Sandia. “The VFA solution will provide Sandia with a central repository of up-to-date facilities data, enable sophisticated cost modeling capabilities, and streamline the process of generating the asset reports required by the DOE.”
