December 31, 2001—eMation’s Device Relationship Management (DRM) enterprise software solutions help companies use the Internet to tap the value of real-time information about building automation systems to optimize their business operations. Sauter Controls, a provider of building management systems, is now using eMation’s DRM technology within Sauter’s novaPro Open software to provide an intelligent user interface between building automation systems and the people who operate and manage them.
According to eMation, operations personnel regardless of their location will be instantly notified of fault conditions in the building automation system. They will be able to access, view, and control the process using a standard Web browser with an extensive user security model over an Internet or Intranet connection. Sauter says that novaPro Open goes beyond traditional Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) applications to provide customers with a highly flexible Web-based decision support solution for controlling automation systems.
According to Sauter, novaPro Open has the capacity to extend to substantial systems, encompassing large buildings or entire campuses of numerous structures over an unlimited geographic area. The first project utilizing novaPro Open was at the ETH-University, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, in Zurich, Switzerland. At the university, the novaPro Open System monitors in real time more than 60,000 HVAC and security data points in more than 220 buildings. For more information visit Sauter or eMation.
