December 18, 2006—SC Johnson recently announced that it has achieved Charter for Sustainable Cleaning membership with the International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance (AISE), a European-based international association of companies in the soaps, detergents, and maintenance products industry.
Charter members make a voluntary commitment to create less waste, use fewer resources, and emit fewer greenhouse gas emissions. Membership in the program shows SC Johnson’s commitment to applying sustainability thinking at every phase of the product life-cycle, starting with product design and continuing through manufacturing, use, and disposal, says the company.
SC Johnson says the accreditation also underlines its long-standing commitment to formulating its products with more environmentally preferred ingredients. SC Johnson’s Greenlist process ensures that the company’s products contain materials that are the best available for the environment and consumers without compromising performance, aesthetics, or cost to consumers. The process reportedly goes beyond the normal risk assessments and regulatory requirements to evaluate each raw material in every SC Johnson product.
