The American Institute for Architects (AIA) recently examined the status of FM-related issues in the 2001 “state of the state” addresses given by US governors. AIA found that school construction, growth and economic development, brownfields redevelopment, and construction and infrastructure were the key issues discussed, with school construction leading the list. According to AIA, “More than half of the governors specifically addressed the need to rebuild, repair, and improve their states’ school infrastructure. In many states there is promise of a large increase in funding for school construction.”
