Security associations SEC and ASIS form partnership to share tools and information

March 12, 2008—ASIS International and the Security Executive Council, an international membership organization for public and private sector security executives, have formed a partnership to provide leadership tools and solutions to members of both organizations and the security industry.

As part of the agreement, ASIS will offer SEC’s leadership materials, including books, presentations and research reports, in the ASIS bookstore.

The materials created by the Security Executive Council, formerly known as the CSO Council, are the result of nearly three years of research and production development, said Bob Hayes, SEC’s managing director. Each is developed after conducting interviews and gathering information from its member security executives to address current leadership challenges.

“It is becoming more and more important that organizations work together vs. splintering the industry apart,” he said. “ASIS has such a huge representation and we have the information the whole industry can use.”

He also said this partnership shows that both ASIS and the SEC recognize that industry leaders do not have the time or the budgets to be involved in multiple organizations and the practice of not “duplicating products and services makes a lot of sense,” he said.

The ASIS Bookstore will feature nine publications from the more than 100 original SEC products, based on 17 member-identified strategic initiatives, including “Security Careers: Defining Jobs, Compensation, Qualifications,” “Measures & Metrics: A Workbook for Demonstrating How Security Adds Value to Business” and “Companion to Measures and Metrics in Corporate Security.”
