August 27, 2001—Select Energy, the energy marketing and services subsidiary of Northeast Utilities, has expanded its electric supply business in Massachusetts to include mid-sized commercial, industrial, and municipal customers. Savings of up to 15 percent—potentially more, depending on customers’ energy usage requirements—are now possible as a result of recent increases in local utility rates for “standard offer” and “default” service.
Businesses can now obtain from Select Energy a price quote for electricity supply, as well as a cost comparison of actual savings under today’s favorable market rates. To ensure the best possible pricing, prospective customers will need to provide the name and account number of their current local electric distribution company, along with a copy of their past month’s electric bill. At present, electric bills below $3,000 per month do not qualify for this program.
