Senate extends moratorium on Internet taxes

December 3, 2001—The US Senate on November 15, 2001, voted 57 to 43 in favor of a bill that will extend the Internet tax moratorium for another two years. The bill, introduced by Senators Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), John McCain (R-Ariz.), and Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), and cosponsored by several others, is designed to encourage growth in the Internet market while it is still getting established. The bill will now be sent to President Bush to sign.
