Shaw wins engineering repair and construction contract from US Air Force

May 10, 2006—The Shaw Group Inc. has announced that its Environmental and Infrastructure business unit has been awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract by the US Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE).

The Air Force has made awards to multiple contractors under this Heavy Engineering Repair and Construction (HERC) contract program. The initial program ceiling for the HERC contract is $6 billion with the potential increase up to a ceiling of $15 billion and has a basic 5-year ordering period, plus three additional 1-year option periods. The HERC contract is intended to meet a broad range of long term design and construction requirements of the Air Force, the Department of Defense and other federal agencies worldwide

Under this contract, Shaw would utilize a wide range of methods, technologies and supporting activities necessary to design and construct new facilities and infrastructure and remodel and upgrade existing facilities and infrastructure. Construction and engineering activities may include commercial and industrial projects such as fuel projects, military construction, community development projects and emerging requirements, such as homeland security, force protection and military family housing projects.
