Siemens to protect new Clinton Library with advanced fire protection, emergency evacuation

July 14, 2004—When the nation’s newest and most technologically sophisticated presidential center and library opens in November, it will include an integrated, state-of-the-art fire-protection, voice evacuation and security system provided by Siemens Building Technologies, Inc.

In its contract to protect the new William J. Clinton Presidential Center, Siemens is providing its XLSV fire protection and evacuation system, which has a detection monitor so sensitive that it is guaranteed to distinguish non-threatening deceptive phenomena such as cigarette smoke or car exhaust from actual fire hazards.

With advanced digital technology for emergency voice evacuation and sprinkler monitoring, the fire system includes an instant communications link to the local fire department and a designated refuge area for the physically challenged to facilitate emergency rescue. Wired into the center’s main public address system, it also will serve as the audio system that provides everyday paging, communication and programmed background music.
