December 19, 2003—ASIS International (ASIS) has published its 2004 edition of the ASIS Security Industry Buyers Guide (SIBG). More than 700 new companies were added to this edition, which has 1,100 product categories, 2,500 company listings, and more than 5,000 key personnel. The online version contains more than 3,500 company listings.
This resource has been serving ASIS’ members for 18 years. It was chosen by the U.S. Department of Defense to maintain the proprietary DoD intranet, which is the portal used in selecting security products for the department’s physical plant comprising more than 600,000 individual buildings and structures that are located at more than 6,000 various locations worldwide. ASIS provides quarterly updates of this database to the DoD.
The online version of ASIS’ SIBG was enhanced in July 2003, expanding the level of information available to security professionals from any single source. Visitors can browse more than 3,500 companies in 830 industry-specific categories. The Product News Alert Service complements the archive, sending e-mail notices of new products to registered users, based on their individualized alert parameters. By contract with ASIS, the DoD Intranet is kept up-to-date on the breadth of security product manufacturers and service providers through the continuously updated SIBG database.
Security companies can create and manage their own listings via a secure online interface at the sibgonline.com Web site.
