Site offers free access to risk management tools, international building practices

January 9, 2009—Tools for Risk Management, a virtual library of technical documents and information on building codes, has been launched to assist the international community to research, understand, and utilize building codes in order to save lives and protect property while lessening the impact of disasters worldwide through safer construction.

The database includes documents such as white papers, research, and videos on a variety of topics, including seismic engineering, hurricane-resistant construction, and hazard assessment and mitigation.

Developed by the International Code Council, United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction, and the Regional Disaster Information Center for Latin America and the Caribbean, Tools for Risk Management (Cdigos de Construccin) is free and available in English and Spanish.
