Sittris, new company launched by Keilhauer, will focus on seating in healthcare settings

October 20, 2006—Addressing the growing demand for healthcare environments that balance the healing process for patients with the comfort and support requirements of staff and visitors, Keilhauer is launching Sittris, a new company dedicated to healthcare seating.

Leading the launch of Sittris is the company’s component seating system designed for Sittris by Helen Kerr of Toronto-based Kerr & Company. Its core design element is a unique back/seat shell that meets the diverse needs of both patients and caregivers. The Sittris Series can be specified with a variety of leg and arm options, depending on the intended use – for patient rooms, nursing stations, public seating areas and specialty purposes, such as bariatrics. Sittris also offers coordinating beam seating ideal for waiting rooms and lobbies.

Sittris offers products available in three choices of infection-fighting fabric: Siliform (Sittris’ patented process for applying silicone to a chair), Microcare (upholstery) and Sustain (non-PVC synthetic leather) are antimicrobial, impermeable to fluids, and cleanable with just soap and water. Additionally, Microcare features germ-killing Nano-Silver technology, a triple antibacterial mechanism integrated into the fabric rather than a topically applied treatment.

Introduced by Keilhauer in 2006, Sittris is a separate, privately owned company that designs and manufactures seating solutions specifically for the unique demands of healthcare environments. For more information, visit the Web site.
