SmartLabs’ new INSTEON thermostat adapter allows one-button remote control

January 11, 2008—SmartLabs, Inc. has launched its second new INSTEON-compatible product of 2008: the INSTEON Thermostat Adapter. This simple snap-in adapter connects in seconds to Totaline / Venstar T1700, T1800, or T1900 programmable thermostats, allowing easy remote control of the temperature from any INSTEON-compatible controller.

Setup takes just a couple of minutes, and once programmed, this system allows one-button access to heating or cooling to specific temperatures, notes the company. Adding INSTEON control to programmable thermostats increases energy and cost savings by allowing for more advanced timing schedules and allows more flexible manual temperature control from multiple locations, says the company.

Connecting the adapter to a programmable thermostat expands INSTEON remote control to HVAC systems.

SmartLabs’ INSTEON dual-mesh, wireless networking technology uses a simple, low-cost combination of wireless and power line communications. Using INSTEON, it is easy to link together systems such as lighting, security, HVAC (comfort control), A/V, appliances and sensors, allowing them to be controlled or monitored from anywhere in the world.

INSTEON-compatible products can also bridge to other networks, such as Wi-Fi LANs, the Internet and telephony, serving as the foundation for robust, integrated control.
