April 12, 2004—SMART Technologies’ new interactive lectern is a next-generation multimedia presentation unit with an integrated, pen-enabled LCD screen designed for presenting in lecture halls, auditoriums, and conference centers. The Sympodium L250’s sturdy frame provides mobility, security, flexibility, durability, and cable management. The L250’s interactive features include a Sympodium interactive pen display (mounted on an adjustable arm), a multimedia switch, and SMART Board software.
With the L250, presenters can use the interactive pen display to control and write over computer-based material. A projector connected to the L250 displays the information on a larger screen so audiences can easily follow along. The multimedia switch can be used to shift between sources, such as an internal computer, laptop computer, or document camera. The L250 features all the interactive functions and digital ink capabilities of the SMART Board interactive whiteboard, SMART’s flagship product.
The Sympodium L250 interactive lectern will start shipping in April 2004 at a suggested retail price of US$7,999. Not-for-profit educational institutions may qualify for a grant through the SMARTer Kids Foundation that would reduce the price to $6,399.
