January 11, 2006—Solel Solar Systems Ltd. will construct an advanced solar system for a school with 500 pupils located in Beit Shemesh, Israel. The system, which will be operated entirely by solar green and clean energy, will air-condition the entire school, including all classrooms and neighboring halls and rooms, says Solel.
The system will operate throughout the entire year, constantly cooling in summer and heating in winter. This project, which is among the first of its kind in the world in the educational sector, is co-financed by the Israel Ministry of Infrastructure and Ministry of Education.
Solel’s cooling system consists of high efficiency and high temperature flat collectors that enable the implementation of various solar applications such as solar air-conditioning, industrial solar heat, large scale water heating (public swimming pools etc.) and water desalination.
