October 8, 2010—Nonprofit sustainability organization Southface was recently honored to receive the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) Sustainable Development Award for its Atlanta campus and organization.
ULI’s Sustainable Development Award is presented annually to a project in the ULI Atlanta area, and recognizes achievement in and application of the finest sustainable development principles and practices.
Finalists and award winners for 2010’s 16th annual ULI awards included a notable list of regional building projects: White Provisions; Two Alliance Center; Piedmont Park’s “Greystone;” Luckie Marietta District; Hotel Indigo Athens; and Gables Midtown.
Southface executive director Dennis Creech said, “The Southface campus is a testament to the talent of everyone involved in this region’s design and construction sector—it represents the depth and breadth of green building skill that exists right here in Atlanta, and across the Southeast.
“Southface is honored to have partnered with so many world-class individuals and organizations to complete our campus. These include Joe Greco, president of our architecture firm Lord, Aeck and Sargent, and the person responsible for the uniquely sustainable design of the Southface Eco Office, as well as our Green Building Consortium partners who built the Southface Eco Office: DPR, Hardin, Holder, R.J. Griffin, Skanska and Winter Construction.”
