November 26, 2001—Spectrum Brands Corp., a provider of security products, recently announced that its subsidiary, Spectrum Homeland Security Solutions Inc., has signed a strategic alliance with Spectronics Corp., a ultraviolet equipment manufacturer, to develop and market a line of ultraviolet light sterilization devices designed to eradicate harmful bacteria and germs.
The devices will be available for both commercial and residential applications, ranging from hospitals and other facilities to water treatment systems. According to Spectronics, ultraviolet treatment can result in pyrogen-free water with objectionable odors removed and containing no dangerous chemical by-products.
The new line of products comes in the wake of recent anthrax cases at U.S. post offices and other facilities.
