September 18, 2006—Leading furniture company Steelcase has formed a partnership in the UK with Green-Works, the not-for-profit social enterprise that provides redundant office furniture for re-use by schools, charities and community organizations or recycling.
Steelcase has signed up to the Green-Works policy of zero landfill throughout the UK and endorsed the charity’s take-back initiatives, which sees old furniture removed from offices and re-distributed.
Mark Spragg, managing director of Steelcase UK, said: “Green-Works provide a fantastic service which allows organizations to deal with their surplus office furniture in a socially and environmentally responsible way. We hope to promote this service to customers all across the UK through our network of dealers, our sales staff and the rest of the Steelcase team.”
Mike Lee, sales and marketing director at Green-Works, commented: “This is a first for both Green-Works and Steelcase. Our goal is to encourage as many businesses as possible to subscribe to take-back schemes.
