Steelcase receives lifetime achievement award for design contributions

November 24, 2006—Steelcase Inc., an international work effectiveness company, announced it has received a Modernism Design Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Brooklyn Museum, one of the oldest and largest art museums in the country.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was established to recognize those who have made significant contributions to twentieth-century design. Based on a thorough research and development process, including video ethnography, Steelcase was found to incorporate the latest design principles into its products and solutions that address the three core elements of an office environment: interior architecture, furniture and technology.

From the company’s first patent for a metal wastebasket in 1914 to the development of environmentally sensitive products like the Think chair, Steelcase has a heritage of design innovation and customer-centered solutions, says the company.

Steelcase, a global leader in the office furniture industry, helps people have a better work experience by providing products, services and insights into the ways people work. For more information, visit the Web site.
